My Story:

This is Winter and his story is definitely heartbreaking. He’s never experienced how it is to be loved all his life. Not much human contact eversince and he was locked up in the dark together with rats for 2 years.

Through Stray Love PH, he was rescued, vet checked, wound treated and then fostered. Unfortunately, the fosterer got scared of him and caged him again, which definitely did not help the aggression problem.

Tita Nelly asked us if we can accommodate Winter while she take care of his meds and the transpo to the shelter. Upon our 1st meeting with Winter, he was indeed slightly aggressive.
But come day 2, we already took him out of the cage, gave him good food, let him enjoy the sunlight while still just being tied for precaution, and he was already very happy about it. While we finish treating his skin problem, we already let him roam freely to assure him that he is in a safe and happy space! Seeing him run around happily is just so fulfilling.

When we sent the video to Stray Love to update them on Winter’s condition here at the shelter, this was their response,

“Winter the pogi! Wow, so nice to know that he is free roaming there! You know, his owners locked him up in a very small cellar for two years with only rats for company. He did not even have any window at all or human contact. The owners just did not care for his welfare at all. When we rescued him, he was scared and vicious because he did not know what was happening and it was the first time for him to see light in two years…”

Now, he will only feel the warmth of the sun and our love for the rest of his stay here till he gets adopted! We will have him neutered next week as he looks like a chickboy now already! 😅

Not ready to adopt but still want to help?
